BIG ARM — Every year the Big Arm community challenges Polson residents to travel up the lake and use buckets, water cannons and super soakers in waters at a Family Fun Day. The winner gets bragging rights and a tall trophy full of jellybeans. The trophy stayed in Big Arm this year since Polson was a no-show, according to Paul Maurer, a Big Arm resident who oversees the event.
But the festivities continued in Big Arm for the seventh year.
While the adults visited, toured the historic Big Arm school, tried a complimentary chair massage from Linda Smith at Blue Willow Massage and viewed the bake sale treats, kids could play games, such as throwing a ball at a stack of cans or through hoops or using a metal detector to find coins and metal toys hidden in a pile of gravel. Ken Avison from the Cove Deli and Pizza presented a magic show at 1:30 p.m.
Then, of course, there was a barbecue lunch, 50/50 drawing and a quilt raffle, all benefiting the historic Big Arm school.
