News from CSKT, Flathead Lakers
SALISH POINT — The Flathead Lake CSKT Mussel Walk will host events about invasive mussels on Thursday, April 12, from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Salish Point. There will be student activities on invasive mussel identification and life history, how to clean, drain, and dry water vehicles, and how to inspect boats for mussels. The day will end with a Mussel Walk along the shoreline. Check out the event on Facebook.
Invasive mussels in Flathead Lake are not inevitable, but it will take vigilance and a community effort to protect our watershed. Join us in our mussel walk to protect Flathead Lake and watershed. Flathead Valley students and community members will learn mussel Identification; growth and infestation; mussel prevention and detection; how to inspect with success; how to clean, dry and drain; get a close look at native shoreline species and end the day with a shoreline mussel walk.
