The Maidens picked up one win in three tries this week as Ronan downed Stevensville 23-0 Saturday but fell to Frenchtown 14-3 Saturday and Polson 7-5 Tuesday.
Ronan exploded for 22 runs in the opening inning Saturday as the Maidens pounded visiting Stevensville in a non-conference matchup for their first win of the season.
The game was called off after the top of the fourth inning by mutual agreement of the coaches.
Alaina Madsen led Ronan with three of the Maidens' nine hits in the game, including a three-run home run, while collecting six RBI. Bethany Coleman was 2-2 with a double and an RBI, Marissa McCrea was 1-1 with an RBI, Lindsay Clairmont was 1-1 with four RBI, Ashleigh
Lynch had three RBI and Brittney Mock was 1-2 with a run driven in.
Coleman picked up the win in the pitching circle for Ronan.
The Maidens fell later in the day Saturday as they traveled to take on Frenchtown.
The Lady Broncs jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the opening inning but the Maidens came back with a pair of runs in the top of the second on a two-run homer by Haggard that cut the Frenchtown lead to 3-2. Frenchtown responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning before adding three more in the fourth and four in the fifth to pull away for a 14-3 victory.
Ronan managed just two hits in the contest, Haggard's home run and a single by Katie Andrews.
The Maidens saw a golden opportunity slip away Tuesday as they led Polson 3-1 before eventually falling to the Lady Pirates, 7-5.
Ronan grabbed a lead in the bottom of the second inning as Clairmont singled with one out, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lynch and scored on a single by Haggard.
Ronan continued to lead into the top of the fourth innings, when Polson answered with a run to knot the contest at one.
Ronan regained the lead in the bottom of the inning with a two-out rally as Haggard got things started with a walk. Alex Dulmes followed with a single and both runners scored on a double by Madsen to put Ronan up 3-1.
Polson once again tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth and then added three more in the fifth to go up 6-3.
Ronan was not about to give up, though. Haggard, Dulmes and Madsen picked up consecutive singles to load the bases in the bottom of the sixth before McCrea used a single to bring home a run. Dulmes scored on a fielder's choice ball by Coleman and Ronan trailed by a single run, 6-5.
Polson was able to add one run in the top of the seventh, but Ronan made things interesting in the final half inning.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Lynch kept Ronan's hopes alive with a bunt single and Haggard was then hit by a pitch to put the tying runs on base. The rally ended there, though, as Dulmes grounded out to second to end the game.
Haggard, Dulmes, Madsen and McCrea all had two hits for Ronan in the loss while Madsen led in RBI with two.
Ronan will travel to Libby Tuesday before hosting Anaconda Thursday.
