RONAN – The Ronan Chiefs football team came out firing Friday, Sept. 2, as they put together a solid offensive performance to down non-conference opponent Bigfork 32-12. The Chiefs quickly got off to a good start as Marcus Hungerford put his team up early with a 6-yard run that was followed by a successful two-point conversion pass from Robbie Gauthier to Chris Clary.

The Vikings wouldn’t give up, bringing the game to 8-6 after Chris Landon leaped high in the air to come down with the 25-yard catch from Colter Mahlum.

That’s when the Chiefs took the game over, scoring three straight touchdowns to end the half with a convincing 26-6 lead. Ronan’s offense cooled off in the second half, only scoring once in the fourth quarter when Jack Humphreys picked up a 15-yard run after the Chiefs defense turned the ball over deep in the Chiefs red zone.

Hungerford finished the game with 129 yards and four touchdowns, while Humphreys and Gauthier both added touchdowns in the win.

Ronan will play their first away game Friday, Sept. 9 when they travel to Troy.
