At Ronan’s football banquet Nov. 22, head coach Jim Benn announced a long list of his players were named All-Conference, plus two individuals who made All-State. Ronan running and defensive back senior Jack Humphreys and running back and linebacker Jake Skelton made the All-State 6-B team after they both finished tremendous season efforts for the Chiefs.
Robert Faoa was awarded first team for defensive end, while Chris Clary was honored with second team defensive end. Colby Robers was awarded first team defensive tackle, while Thane Tobol made second team for the same position.
Jake Skelton made first team inside linebacker, while Carsten Baerstch took first team outside linebacker.
Dalton Molzhon was given an honorable mention for strong safety, while Robbie Gauthier was given first team honors for free safety. Humphreys also secured first team for the corner back position, and Marcus Hungerford made second team for the same position.
On offense, Molzhon was awarded honorable mention for punting, while Gauthier took second team honors for quarterback. Skelton took first team for right-side running back, while Humphreys made second-team left-side running back. For the fullback position, Clary made first team while Hungerford made first team for flankerback, and Molzhon received an honorable mention for the same position.
Faoa made first team in the tight end position, while Tobol was awarded with second-team honors for playing guard. Dustin Goldsby received an honorable mention for guard.
Fellow lineman Roberts was awarded with first-team for the center position.
Mission’s Fabian Camacho, a senior lineman, received All-State honors along with defense first team All-Conference honors. The Bulldogs collected a combined 15 All-Conference awards for offense and defense.
Head coach Rich Ferris said Camacho was deserving of this award for his offensive and defensive efforts on the field.
“When he went full blast, he was hard to stop,” Ferris said.
Making the second team All-Conference for defense were defensive end Nikko Alexander, inside linebacker Barrett Sargent, outside linebacker Josh Durglo and free safety Austin Durglo. Honorable mentions went to strong safety Dylan Evans and cornerback Ryce Hegwood.
Punter Raymond Matt, right running back Austin Durglo, tackle Josh Durglo and guard Sargent all received second team All-Conference. Honorable mentions went to quarterback Dylan Evans, center Alexander and left running back Dakota Gun Hammer.
“I was very happy with the effort given this season,” said Ferris of his first year as head coach. “They picked up well what I wanted them to do.”
Ferris plans to continue to build the program with returning athletes and new players.
“We need to increase our numbers,” he said. “We need to get our kids in the weight room (so) we can get the most of out them and they can be the best they can be.”
The Bulldogs will lose 10 seniors, but Ferris said there is strong leadership in the junior class.
“When you talk about leaders, it’s those kids that will get others in the weight room, at practices and at two-a-days,” he explained.
