POLSON — Happy New Year.

Does it seem like the days are getting longer? With the winter solstice behind us now, they are. I might require two naps a day soon. And soon the old calendars will be replaced with the 2018 ones. Ah, time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like bananas.

But hang on to your hats. The pleasant fall we’ve had must be paid for. Of course, we need the moisture; I wouldn’t want it any other way.

The commodities will be sorted and packaged on Tuesday, Jan. 16. If you are a senior over the age of 60, on a limited budget and having trouble affording groceries, come in and fill out a senior commodity application.

Vivian Ross surged to the front at senior bowling on Dec. 19 with a high game of 188 for women while Jack Adamson had a 240 score for the men. Sharon Sansone and Tim Basta had high series scores. Sharon also had the high handicap series score for women and Larry Lawin had the men’s high in that category.

Menu for the coming week:

—  Thursday, Dec. 28: meat gravy over country noodles

—  Friday, Dec. 29: cook’s choice

—  Monday, Jan. 1: closed

—  Tuesday, Jan. 2: hash brown bake, link sausage

—  Wednesday, Jan. 3: meatloaf, baked potato

    Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
