Ronan High School advanced art students pulled a wagon full of white paint and brushes down Main Street on Tuesday, Nov. 28, with a mission to complete a project.
RHS Art Teacher Michelle Mallon said the students were painting windows with white winter holiday scenes including snowmen, trees, and deer. She said it was a challenge for the students to develop the scenes using only one color so they had to rely on texture and brush strokes.
The students finished the project in one day, although it was a bit cold in the morning hours, so they often moved to the side of the street where the sun was brightest.
The Ronan Beautification Committee provided the funding for the project and lunch for the students. Many of the businesses wanted to keep the paintings up past the holidays so the students decided on a winter theme instead of holiday scenes.
Mallon said she is taking names for next year’s painting project if anyone missed getting their windows painted this year.
