DUBUQUE, Iowa – Edward Hendrix (C’71), of Polson, was inducted into the University of Dubuque Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 7, 2017, in Heritage Center. Honorees were recognized during halftime of the football game against Buena Vista University.
Hendrix was a member of the 1969 wrestling team. The 1969 wrestling team, coached by Kenneth “Moco” Mercer, finished the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record and place third at the Iowa Conference Wrestling Championships. They outscored the opposition 337-65 in the regular season.
The University of Dubuque Alumni Association established the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989 as a place to honor those individuals who have promoted and served the University through its athletic programs. Each recipient receives a plaque and a lifetime pass to all UD athletic events. The recipient’s name is added to the Athletic Hall of Fame plaque located in the Stoltz Sports Center.
