POLSON – Longtime friends and teammates will soon become rivals.
Lady Pirate soccer standouts Tiara Duford and Jenna Evertz have signed letters of intent to play college soccer at Rocky Mountain College in Billings and The University of Providence in Great Falls, respectively.
The schools compete against each other in the NAIA Frontier Conference.
“I chose Great Falls because it is a tight knit school, it is a smaller campus,” former Lady Pirates’ keeper Jenna Evertz said. “The professors are very supportive of the student athletes since about 60 percent of the student population is student athletes.”
A twice Lady Pirates’ team MVP, Evertz will play goalkeeper for the Lady Argos.
“I am undecided on a major,” Evertz said. “But I have been looking into special education.”
Like her pal Evertz, Duford is also
undecided on a major as she heads off to Rocky Mountain College.
“I feel very rewarded being able to continue my soccer career at Rocky,” two-time all-state striker Tiara Duford said.
Though Duford has always played the striker position, she isn’t sure what position she will be playing for the Battlin’ Bears.
“I am open to any position on the field,” Duford said. “I will strive to be the best I can be at whichever position I am given.”
