ARLEE- With a population of just a smidge under 700, Arlee is a small town; however, nothing tops its annual Fourth of July rodeo for its big-town excitement.
Few do it better than R.T. Hendrickson and his crew, who have been operating the rodeo for last 35 years in conjunction with the town’s century-old powwow.
Local and out of town rodeo fans were treated to some good old-fashioned traditional rodeo by more than 60 amateur and pro cowboys and cowgirls. Events were featured like bareback riding, ladies’ breakaway, saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, ladies’ barrel racing, team roping and, of course, bull riding.
While bull riding comes with plenty of excitement built in, a rank pen of bulls dominated the action. Only one successful bull rider had qualified with a full eight-second ride.
The valley’s next rodeo action will be Saturday, July 29th at 1 p.m. during the Lake County Fair in Ronan.
