Editor,

On behalf of the Big Arm Association, I want to thank the 35 businesses that donated items for our silent auction at our fifth annual dinner and dance on Sept. 3. Approximately $900 was raised through the silent auction of these items for the continued effort to restore the 100-year-old Big Arm Schoolhouse.

More than 100 people attended the event with a great meal and country music provided by The Westernaires. The weather was perfect, and so was the setting, as the event was held at the historic schoolhouse for the first time because of the restoration efforts over the past four years.

I would also like to thank the 25 volunteers that helped make the event such a success. So many people pulling together speaks highly of the Big Arm family. I certainly would be remiss not to mention that the vast majority of the 35 businesses that supported the event are Polson and Ronan businesses. Our September Big Arm community newsletter is spotlighting these businesses with the encouragement to patronize them.

And whether you live in Big Arm or are just passing through, stop for a moment and visit the schoolhouse just south of the fire station, and see what has been accomplished the past few years.
