HELENA – Across Montana, rural fire departments are often a community’s sole educator on a variety of safety topics for children and adults. From fire safety to the importance of wearing a seatbelt to the dangers of electricity, rural firemen and women provide valuable tools and life skills to Montanans. Recognizing their importance, AAA MountainWest awards ten rural fire department grants each year, each for $1000, to be used toward education programs in rural Montana communities. It is also an opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices, hard work and long hours Montana’s volunteer firefighters give to the state and its citizens.
The Polson Rural Fire District is a 2017 grant recipient.
“We are honored to provide funding to the Polson Rural Fire District,” says Denice Harris, AAA MountainWest spokeswoman. “We applaud and thank the men and women of the Polson community who volunteer their time,” added Harris. “This grant is meant to recognize their sacrifices and provide resources to further their mission of educating community members on a variety of safety topics.”
