POLSON – When the big rigs of the Big Circle Rodeo Company rolled through town it could have meant only one thing, it’s Mission Mountain Rodeo time.
On Friday and Saturday, more than 3,000 rodeo fans attended the 77th annual Mission Mountain NRA Rodeo at the Polson Fairgrounds’ Less Baldwin Arena.
“We couldn’t have asked for better weather,” Polson Fairgrounds Inc. Secretary Una Rose Graham said. “The rodeo went very well and we had a lot of fans turn out.”
Fans were entertained by rodeo action and music played by Highway 93 Band. Some local cowboys and cowgirls were even able to pick up checks on Saturday evening.
Ronan’s Trevar McAllister placed second in the bareback and Pete White roped a second-place finish in the calf roping.
In the barrel race, local favorites Abby Knight of Charlo and Lexi Bagnell of Polson finished second and third respectively.
In other rodeo action, Charles Lytle of Arlee placed fourth in the saddle bronc and Will Powell of St. Ignatius also finished fourth in the steer wrestling during the Big Timber Rodeo in Big Timber, Montana this past weekend.
Mission Valley’s next rodeo action will be July 4 in Arlee at 2 p.m.
