POLSON — The Mission Valley Mariners dropped two against the visiting Glacier Twins 8-2 and 12-1 on Tuesday, June 20.
In game one, the Twins quickly scored two in the first inning and were held in check by the Mariners pitching staff until the fourth inning.
The fourth inning saw the Twins add six more runs on four hits, four hit batters and an error to make it 8-0.
Eric Dolence’s double in the bottom of the seventh inning scored the only runs for the Mariners.
Mariners’ Izyk Gillingham went 2-for-3 in the loss, while Eric Dolence went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
In the nightcap, the Mariners and Twins held each other scoreless through the first three innings of action.
Once again, it was in the fourth inning in which the Twins broke the scoreless deadlock with three runs to take a 3-0 lead over the Mariners.
The Mariners gave up two more runs in the fifth inning and another in the sixth to fall behind the Twins 6-0. In the bottom of the sixth the Mariners were able to get on the score board with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch.
Glacier sealed the deal in the seventh inning with six more runs.
The Mariners are back at home June 30 through July 4 when they host their yearly Fourth of July Firecracker Tournament.
