Editor,
We hear, read, and absorb countless reports on the problems our nation is facing. Can it all be boiled down into one cogent, important and overarching primary cause, root cause, basic problem? I believe it can, and my belief goes something like this: "We are a nation gone wild with the thought that real power and strength comes from building a massive military might, catering to the whims and political contributions of our large corporations, and definitely putting wealth above wisdom while all the time destructive greed, fear, anger and political bickering is eating away, like a cancer, at the very fabric and vision upon which our nation was born."
So, my next question to myself is: "Ok, so what can we do about it?"
Well, the only thing I see that will have any impact for change is a revolution. Yes, revolution. Why not? We see it has a powerful effect in other countries.
Now, let's look at this. Revolution does not have to be bloody, with killing, with troops, with guns and torture. A revolution is simply an uprising.
A peaceful, yet potent, communication-based uprising of sensible, fed-up, thoughtful, honest, hardworking, and informed Americans can actually change the entire thrust of our present system which is right now hustling into the emergency room for immediate resuscitation. And it is done by the great power "we the people" do have, and that is speaking out, gathering, standing for peace, marching, writing, and making sensible decisions in the voting booth.
Can or will this happen? Who knows, but I do know this: When the pain finally gets to the breaking point, things do begin to happen from the "ground up" and not from the "top down."
