ARLEE — After leading half the game, the Warriors fell in a bittersweet loss to the Superior Bobcats.
“It was a great game,” head coach Dustin Keltner said.
Arlee’s Junior Sansavere continued to prove his scoring power by netting 15 points.
“Junior is a pure scorer. He can shoot from mid-range and the three-point line,” Keltner said. “He’s really stepped it up and is tough to defend.”
Sam Nelson also tossed up 13 points, and Josh Reed added eight.
“Sam did a good job of slashing to the basket,” Keltner said.
At halftime, the Warriors were up 22-12. But the Bobcats retuned after the break to outscore the Warriors 21-10 in the third quarter. Superior senior Aaron Lowman scored 14 points. Lowman’s supporting cast of Adam Kay with 13 points and Clint Voll netting 10 outscored and outhustled the Warriors late in the game.
Together Lowman and Voll pulled down 24 rebounds and Bill Smith added seven assists and nine points.
The Warriors are on the road this week and travel to St. Regis on Tuesday and Missoula-Loyola on Thursday.
“St. Regis is a young team with a lot of inexperience, but we have to go there and be focused,” Keltner added. “Loyola is a traditionally good Class B team. They will be a good test for our kids to play a level up and test our skills on the road.”
