LAKE COUNTY — January’s members of the month for Polson are both ones that we love to have visit us after school on a daily basis. Our first is Giovanni Cole, 11, a club member for two years. He is full of life and intelligence, loves to read and spend time in our technology room utilizing the computers to learn even more. Giovanni enjoys going to the Polson library, reading books, and playing video games when he has free time. He describes himself as intelligent, nice and mature for his age – and the staff at the Boys and Girls Club agree. He dreams of being an engineer as an adult and looks forward to our STEM program days and other problem solving activities. Giovanni has the drive to make those dreams a reality. Madeline Peters, 6, is our other club member of the month. She has been a club member for a short eight months.
Madeline loves our main room activities, where we play board games and other fun activities. She also loves the arts and crafts. We have two foster grandparents and great staff that develop fun activities for the kids every day using all sorts of materials. She likes playing with her sister, Ashlin, and like most kids, loves ice cream. Madeline describes herself as being nice to everyone, helpful, and silly. We concur. She plans to be a doctor when she grows up. Her willingness to give of herself will help her achieve it.
We have some great kids in Ronan as well. Matthew Mitchell, 9, has been coming to the club for two years. He really enjoys all of the outdoor activities; running and playing football are his favorites. And as the weather improves, he will be doing more of that. He plays outside on the weekends as well, swims in the summer, and plays video games when he needs to relax. Matthew’s favorite color is red, as it is a bold color. And his favorite food? Bacon. When he grows up, he aspires to be a race car driver. Until then, he’ll enjoy watching while he waits to get his license.
Our other member for Ronan is Angel Lee Little- Mary, 11, who has been coming to the club for quite some time. She has some great friends including Carli, Ashton, and Aaliyah. Angel likes to watch Sponge Bob and Dance Moms on TV, but really would prefer to engage in Crossfit, gymnastics and football. Her favorite food is elk steaks, she loves the color black, and thinks the red fox is a cool animal. Reading is also a great pastime, and she like books about animals and sports. When she grows up, she hopes to be a professional gymnast. She is determined, so anything is possible.
