Locals shine as high school rodeo season starts

KALISPELL – The Mission Valley High School Rodeo team’s spring rodeo season began on March 18 during a Montana High School Rodeo Association’s twoday event held in Kalispell at the Majestic Valley Arena.
Area high school athletes stood out during the event. Tyler Houle, a senior at Ronan, captured first place both days in the steer wrestling event. Hallie Sohr of Ronan finished first on Saturday in both breakaway and pole bending and third in the barrels. Raychel Lien of Ronan finished third on Sunday in goat tying. Team ropers Willy Lytton/Taylor Harris of Polson finished first and team ropers Zane Walchuck/Kane McAllister of Ronan finished second on Saturday.
