POLSON – A woman charged with solicitation of robbery and tampering with a witness in relation to the theft of some $600 from the Sitting Duck in Woods Bay in late January was released on her own recognizance last week.

Judge James Manley released Crystal Dolar, 33 of Bigfork, after she pleaded not guilty to the charges on March 14. Defense attorney Robert Long said she doesn’t have a criminal record.

Manley noted that Dolar’s son is also involved in the case, but Dolar said he is currently incarcerated in the Missoula County Jail.

According to a court document, the Sitting Duck bar and grill was robbed of approximately $600 when a person in dark clothing who was wearing a mask entered the business carrying a gun in his left hand and asked the bartender for money at 12:23 a.m. on Jan. 29.

Dave Anderson later told authorities he found a $20 bill and an air gun on his property a few hundred feet from the Sitting Duck, the court document states. Others on the rental property also said they found clothing matching the description of the alleged robber. Smith’s son, who was identified in the court document as Skyler Smith, admitted to robbing the Sitting Duck on Jan. 29, according to the court document.

Dolar told detectives and a female witness that Dolar was with Smith the whole evening of the robbery, the court document states.

In addition, a male witness said that two weeks after the robbery Dolar told him that the money from the robbery was in her safe, according to the court document.
