Polson teams finish 2nd, 3rd at Loyola speech meet

MISSOULA — Polson High School Speech, Debate and Drama competitors traveled to Missoula for the Loyola Sacred Heart Invitational Speech and Drama Meet on January 7. Held at the University of Montana, the meet welcomed AA, A and B schools from around Northwestern Montana.

According to Jon Petersen, head speech coach for PHS, Polson policy debaters Eric DeLay and Reed Hovenkotter earned fifth place, and teammates Sharidan Russell and Kelsey Koberg received seventh place. Novice Lincoln-Douglas debater Isak Petersen took third place, and extemporaneous speaker Megan Pope pulled down second.

In drama competition, PHS had three placers. Classical duo actors Erika Siegelin and Clark Siegelin and serious duo actors Sydney Gambrel and Krysta Seville earned fourth place in their events, and humorous duo actors Emmy Driscoll and Delaney Kohler placed seventh.

In overall team results, Polson placed second in Class A speech behind Columbia Falls and third in Class A Drama.

In Class B competition, Loyola pulled down first place in speech and Bigfork earned first in drama. Sentinel High School took first in speech in the AA portion of the meet.
