POLSON – Area youth and adults had an opportunity to sweep their winter blahs away by playing a little broomball at Riverside Park on Saturday during WinterFest.
“It was really fun,” first time broomballer Zevan Walker of Polson said.
Broomball is pretty much skateless ice hockey played with a small rubber ball instead of a puck, and there is no need for all the special equipment and missing teeth.
“These kids came down here and are having a blast,” event organizer Hilary Lozar said.
The Mission Valley Ice Arena Association hosted WinterFest as part celebration of winter and part fundraiser to help raise funds for a proposed ice rink.
During the event, 50/50 tickets, tickets for a rifle raffle and special edition MVIAA hockey style jerseys were all available for purchase to help MVIAA meet their $25,000 goal.
