POLSON — On Thursday, Feb. 23, a free program at The Miracle of America Museum honors Lake County Marine and Native American Louis C. Charlo, descendant of the famous Salish Chief Charlo. Coincidentally, this date is the anniversary of the conquest of Mt. Suribachi in 1945, the highest point on Iwo Jima. The Marine Commanding General would say of Charlo, “his contribution was instrumental in raising the flags that inspired thousands of Marines to keep on fighting to ultimate hard won victory.”
This free monthly program, called “Night at the Museum,” is held at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
This month’s museum program will conclude with the showing of “The Sands of Iwo Jima,” starring John Wayne. Treats and donations are welcome. If you’d like more information, call 406-883-6804 or 406-270-7895.
