News from Girls Scout of America

MONTANA — On Friday, Girl Scouts in Montana and Wyoming began taking pre-orders for cookies as they celebrate the 100th year of selling favorites, including Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles and the gluten free variety, Toffee-tastics.

To commemorate the anniversary, a new cookie has been added to the line-up. The highly anticipated Girl Scout S’mores cookie is a s’mores-inspired crunchy graham sandwich cookie with creamy chocolate and marshmallowy filling.

The price of Girl Scout Cookies in Montana and Wyoming remains at $4 per box with the exception of the specialty cookies: the gluten free Toffee-tastics and S’mores sell for $5 per box.

All of the net revenue raised through the Girl Scout Cookie Program—every penny after the baker is paid— stays with the local council and troops. Troops may use funds for travel, camp, to fund a project that will improve their community, or donate the money to a worthy cause.

Girl Scouts will be taking pre-orders for cookies through Feb. 19, with delivery in mid March. Cookies can be ordered online through April 16, and can be purchased during Booth Sales March 24- April 16; during that time you can use the booth-locator at gsmw.org.

The first known sale of cookies by Girl Scouts occurred in 1917, when the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee baked cookies and sold them in its high school cafeteria as a service project.
