Polson's tennis squads had a rough time at Hamilton last week as the Lady Pirates were swept, 7-0, while the Pirates lost their matchup with the Broncs, 5-2.

It just wasn't the Lady Pirates' day as Polson's girls failed to even win a set against the Lady Broncs Friday.

In singles action, Sara Robinson came the closest to picking up a win for the Lady Pirates as she fell to Jill Toews, 6-4, 6-3. Polson's top singles player, Kendyall Rochin, struggled against Mary Conwell, falling 6-1, 6-3 while Whitney Zimmerman fell to Nellie Moran, 6-1, 6-0 and Tegan Bower came up short against Kim Lamar, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Polson's top duo of Karmen Borchers and Kenzie Clay fell short against Kelsey Della-Silva and Stella Quinlan, 6-2, 6-3. Audra Engebretson and Jordan Quinn fell to Tara Stromberg and Varsha Rao, 6-1, 7-5, and Karly Rochin and Marybeth Hendrix lost to Erica Huppert and Meg Maclean, 6-2, 6-2.

Polson's boys faired a little better against the Broncs as they won two matchups, but still fell 5-2.

Both of the Pirates' wins came in singles matches as Ian Laimbeer defeated Daymon Halstead in a drawn-out battle that saw two tie-breaks, 7-6 (11-9), 7-6 (7-4). Sam Kinzle picked up Polson's other win, downing John Walker, 6-2, 6-4.

Top Pirates' singles player Brady Hislop had trouble in his matchup, falling to Ethan Selig, 6-2, 6-4. Andrew Storro also fell in his matchup with Cody Tredik, 7-6, 6-2.

In doubles action for the Pirates, Will Davey and Justin Evertz fell to Graham Silcher and Cody Lewis in the matchup of the day, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-5). Dylan McCrumb and Hayden Congdon fell short against Shawn Homyak and Aaron Mead, 6-2, 6-3 and Sam Peel and Reed Hovenkotter fell to Resse Isherwood and Craig Weese, 6-4, 6-1.

Both teams were in action at the Davis Cup in Kalispell Monday. Results were not available at press time. Polson plays at Whitefish Thursday before hosting Libby Saturday.
