Polson
WHITEFISH – The Polson wrestling team had mixed on-the-road success during a Class A triangular wrestling meet on Dec. 22, 2016 with both Whitefish and Browning.
Mateo Quinones (113), Owen Targerson (120), Bridger Wenzel (132) and Parker Adler (138) all won by pin, helping the Pirates defeat host Whitefish 51- 22.
In a match that Browning won 43-30, Bridger Wenzel (132), Parker Adler (138) and Hunter Fritsch (170) all won by pin.
Earlier in December, the Polson Pirates finished the two-day Tri-State Invitational tied with Coeur d’Alene with 76 points for 15th place.
Mateo Quinones (106) took fifth, Parker Adler (138) and Hunter Fritsch (160) were sixth, and Kendrick Baker (98) and Bridger Wenzel (126) placed seventh.
Ronan
CORVALLIS – The Ronan Chiefs scored 170 points to capture top team honors during the Brawley Classic on Saturday.
The Chiefs had three champions and six wrestlers finish in the top four.
Owen Brown (120), Hunter Peterson (126) and Noah Cheff (132) won championships.
Caden Rhine (103), Seth Cheff (145) and Happy Cheff (152) took second, Spencer Stagg (113) placed third and Justin Mays (170) and Ethan Christopher (heavyweight) finished in fourth.
The Mission-Charlo Bulldogs also competed in the classic and placed third with 130 points.
The Bulldogs had one champion and six wrestlers finish in the top four.
By pinning his opponent, Trent Dennison (160) won championship.
Isaac Dumontier (120) and Gus Bosley (182) placed second, Robert Dempsey (103) and Miles Anderson (152) took third and Bailey Weible (126) and Darwin Adams (132) finished fourth.
Arlee
EUREKA – On Saturday, the Arlee Warriors finished in ninth place with 30.5 points at the Buzz Lucey Invitational wrestling tournament.
Thomas Knoll (152) and George Shick (170) finished in fourth place in their weight classes.
