POLSON – The teen charged with negligent homicide in the death of a 3-year-old boy on Thanksgiving Day was arraigned in district court last week.
Chasen Kiaran Curley pleaded not guilty and his attorney, Ashley Morigeau, requested a transfer to youth court.
Judge James A. Manley set the transfer hearing for 3 p.m. Feb. 8.
Curley was released on his own recognizance in Lake County Justice Court on Nov. 25.
An omnibus hearing was set for Feb. 22 with a trial on April 3.
Curley allegedly backed his vehicle over Phillip Shourds Jr. and then pulled forward and out of the Northwood Trailer Park on Nov. 24 despite cries for him to stop by the boy’s father and a woman.
The boy was on a bicycle at the time, according to a court document.
