POLSON — Cameron Milton, PGA Head Professional at Polson Bay Golf Course, received the Pacific Northwest Section Youth Player Development Award for his work with Junior Golfers.
Milton’s efforts bring seven different programs to local kids. Polson Bay offers a free junior camp to over 120 kids in grades 1-8 culminating in a closing competition and banquet involving the families. Milton brings golf to the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Indian Reservation to involve their participants in the free junior camp.
In 2016, Cameron successfully brought a “Golf in Schools” program to Polson Middle School, where he introduced golf to more than 400 kids via PE classes. Its success earned a grant from the Montana State Golf Association to administer “Golf in Schools” in St. Ignatius schools during the winter of 2016-2017.
Milton is also a strong proponent of PGA Junior League Golf, a unique team golf concept that has grown to 20 teams in western Montana in just two years. Polson Bay hosts three of those teams.
This is Milton’s second time receiving this award and he is a six-time Western Montana Chapter Youth Player Development honoree.
