WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Salish Kootenai College Lady Bison basketball team won two close games on the road against Walla Walla University last weekend.
On Saturday, Kaylea Skunkcap nearly earned a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds in the Lady Bison’s 66- 54 victory. Mahalia Hendren led the team with 11 rebounds.
On Sunday Whitney Malatare and Shanelle Skunkcap led the team with 12 points apiece while Hendren again snagged the most rebounds, grabbing seven of the team’s 36 rebounds in the 75-63 win.
The Lady Bison will host Blackfeet Community College Nov. 18, followed by a home game against Montana Tech varsity Nov. 19.
“This season is the first time we’ve played NAIA varsity programs,” coach Juan Perez said. “Our men’s team is playing more teams, but next season both (teams) will be playing more.”
