News from Mission Valley Christian Academy
POLSON — The Mission Valley Christian Academy was the recipient of a very generous donation of fishing poles and tackle from Cabela’s this summer, according to Chris Bumgarner, director of MVCA. Students took the poles to Flathead Lake on Thursday. “As a small Christian K-12 school, we have the flexibility to have our junior high and high school science classes take a field trip to Flathead Lake,” Bumgarner said.
The field trip provided opportunities to share with students about lake trout moving to the shoreline during this part of the fall, discussing habitat and feeding patterns, learning how to bait and use tackle as well as “landing the big one,” Bumgarner said, “experiences that our students will always remember.”
Bumgarner said he was surprised at how many students had not fished before.
“Luckily we didn’t have any incidents with hooks. We are so blessed to live in a part of the country where experiencing the great outdoors is so close by and we try not to take that for granted,” he said. “On behalf of the MVCA staff, families and students, we would like to acknowledge Cabela’s wonderful gift to our school. It is our hope that this experience (and further trips) will help our students appreciate God’s incredible creation and the amazing beauty that surrounds us in Montana.”
Gratitude, Bumgarner said, is one of the characteristics highly valued at MVCA. “And we wish to thank the businesses that support our mission.”
