Polson grapplers defeat Flathead, Frenchtown

The Polson Pirate wrestling squad picked up two key victories last week as the team prepares for upcoming divisional and state tournaments.
On Thursday, Polson traveled to Kalispell where the Pirates picked up nine wins to secure a 42-34 victory.
Carlos Quinones (112) pinned Daniel Devall in 1:52, while 119-pound grappler Dylan Moll won by a 8-5 decision over Tyler Davis. Craig Feistner pinned Levi Anderson in 50 seconds, while 130-pound wrestler Drew Fouty pinned Kalieb Liehr in 5:38.
Polson also picked up a win in the 135-pound class as Skylar Anderson pinned Evan Eickert in 4:26.
Mike Devlin (152) won by a 2-1 decision over Jacob Egley, while heavyweight Josiah Clairmont pinned Bowen Smith in only 17 seconds.
Flathead won 160 and 171 by forfeit, while Polson won 189 by forfeit.
On Friday, Polson hosted Frenchtown on senior night, where Polson wrestlers Alex Nystrom and Clairmont and team manager Makaliah Wilson were honored.
Polson led Frenchtown early on 20-0 and finished strong to secure a 51-26 victory.
Polson picked up four wins by pin, as Drew Fouty picked up a win by pinning Roy Shutter in 4:40, while at his final home meet of his high school career, Nystrom (140) pinned Zach Kincheloe in 1:23.
Later in the meet, Mike Devlin (152) pinned Jack Nerison in 2:32, while Tel Motichka pinned Steve Erickson in 5:36. Clairmont won his final home meet by forfeit.
Craig Feistner won the 125-pound category by a 10-2 major decision over Cody Lemons, while Taylor Martin also won by major decision over Preston Dawnard, 13-1.
Polson travels to Ronan Jan. 27 and will take on Whitefish on the road Jan. 28.
Sign-up for the Polson Little Guy Wrestling program which includes grades 1-8 will be at the Polson High School auditorium on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m.
A registration fee of $15 per wrestler ($30 maximum per family) will be collected at the meeting. This fee will go toward T-Shirts and liability insurance. A parent or guardian must be in attendance to sign forms. It is not necessary for wrestlers to be present at this meeting.
The first practice will be Monday, Feb. 13.
