NINEPIPES — A three-vehicle wreck south of Ronan just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 resulted in serious injuries to a 24-year-old Missoula man, who was driving a late-model Toyota Corolla.
Another man driving a Nissan Xterra was trying to turn left onto Eagle Pass Trail when the Corolla rear-ended the Xterra, forcing the Xterra into a headon collision with a northbound Ford transit delivery van, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Laramie Stefani.
Stefani said the driver of the Corolla, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was flown to Harbor View with serious injuries, including broken bones and internal bleeding. The other two male drivers were wearing seatbelts and suffered less serious injuries such as cuts, scrapes and bumps.
Neither drugs nor alcohol use are suspected in the wreck, according to Stefani.
“(The driver of the Corolla) just failed to pay attention to what was going on,” Stefani said.
