USDA announces Town Hall Meetings in Pablo

PABLO — U.S. Department of Agriculture agencies will hold a town hall meeting in Pablo, on Sept. 28, at 1 p.m. at Mission Valley Power, 36079 Pablo West Road, to discuss opportunities for and barriers to maximizing access to USDA programs and services.

In early 2016, 13 Montana counties and the seven tribal nations, including Lake County and the Flathead Reservation, were designated as “StrikeForce” counties, a rural growth and opportunity initiative launched by USDA in 2010 in economically challenged areas to improve USDA services by building partnerships to help challenged communities shape a future based on local assets and regional strengths.

If you require special accommodations or would like additional information about StrikeForce, please contact John George at jonathan. george@mt.usda.gov or 406- 449-5000 ext. 101.

Gold Star Mother’s Day event held

RONAN – The American Legion, VFW and the Army Survivor Outreach Services Program will host Gold Star Mom’s/Family Day on Sept. 25, at Bockman Park. The event starts at noon.

The Memorial Service will begin with special remarks from a Gold Star Sister. All Gold Star Families are invited to this event. The event will conclude with a free luncheon at the VFW Hall on Round Butte Road.

The 74th Congress approved June 23, 1936, as Gold Star Mother’s Day. This special event is to show community support for Gold Star Mothers living in Montana. By doing so, Gold Star Families know they are Never Alone, and Never Forgotten. Gold Star Families can be recognized by a gold star on a purple background which is presented to immediate family of service members who lose their lives during any armed hostilities. The Next of Kin recognition is a gold star within a circle of oak sprigs, which is presented to immediate family of service members who die outside of a combat theater of operations.

For more information, families can contact Joe Warren, Army Survivor Outreach Services Coordinator, at 406- 324-5218.
