FLORENCE — Taking all the skills they learned during their season and using it for a successful District Tournament was the plan for the Mission Valley Mariners. On Thursday, July 21 – 25 the Mariners spent four days fighting for a chance to keep their season alive in Florence.
In the first round of the tournament, the Mariners played the Bitterroot Bucs. The Bucs were the only team to score in the first six innings and held the Mariners to only one run. The Bucs won the game 4-1.
On Friday, July 22 the Mariners were in search of redemption playing the Libby Loggers. Though the the Loggers were ahead 4-3 in the third; their lead didn’t last long after. The Mariners scored 12 runs in the remaining inning to win the game 15-5.
