News from Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana

CHARLO – The accomplished, multi-talented, mother-daughter duo Jacki and Sarah Goedert are the featured artists at Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana’s “First Saturday” event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 2. Watercolor illustrator Jacki and author Sheila Heuer were present at the museum for a signing of their book, “Cowboy, the Magic Horse.” On Saturday, visitors will have the opportunity to meet her daughter, Sarah, who recently published a children’s book, complete with photographs she took to illustrate the story. “A Day at the Ranch” was inspired by Sarah and her husband’s children’s experiences on their family ranch in the Mission Valley. Everyone is invited to the book signing and to enjoy the artwork created by both Jacki and Sarah. Light refreshments will be offered.

Ninepipes Museum’s Cultural Arts Fair on Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features local artist booths on the museum grounds, traditional skill demonstrators, as well as quick draw artists Olivia Olsen and Juanita Small Salmon. Nancy Vaughan’s delicious Indian Tacos and Indian Fry Bread with huckleberry butter will be available to purchase. Joe McDonald and Bob Bigart will sign and sell their recent publications: “The Nez Perces: The History of Their Troubles and the Campaign of 1877” and “Duncan McDonald, Flathead Indian Reservation Leader and Cultural Broker, 1849-1937.”

This is a fundraising event for the museum and participating artists will donate a piece of their work to be auctioned toward the end of the afternoon along with the pieces created by the quick draw artists. Live music will be provided by Mark and Krysti Reichman, aka “The WildFlowers,” and Geno Harper will accompany visitors’ strolls along the museum’s Nature Walk as they enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountains and the talents of our neighbors. The museum offers a special two-for-one pricing on museum tours for the day, so plan to spend a pleasant day enjoying the art and culture of western Montana.

Groups tours are available year-round. To schedule a tour, or for more information, call 406-644-3435.
