PABLO – Area firefighters responded to a call of a burning home on Snyder Hill Lane Feb. 26, but by the time they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
According to Ronan Fire Chief Mark Clary, nobody was home at the time, but it is believed a couple of pets were lost in the fire.
Snyder Hill Lane is a private road, and the rough terrain forced first responders to shuttle water to the fire in three or four four-wheel drive brush trucks, since no other vehicles could make it up the road.
“It’s not the greatest road in the winter,” Clary said. “It was fully engulfed by the time we got there. We put cold water on the edges (of the home) and all the walls fell in.”
First responders remained on scene until 8:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
