HELENA – Montana GEAR UP recently notified seniors that they had earned the Pathways Scholarship, worth a total of $23,660. The seniors are enrolled in schools served in the 2005 GEAR UP grant.

Ethan Goss-Dickie, a senior at Mission High School in St. Ignatius, was one of 73 seniors to receive a GEAR UP scholarship.

“The Pathways, to me, means that students can be recognized for putting yeas of time and effort into their academics and community service,” he said. “GEAR UP does an amazing job preparing students for college, whether it be through information or financial support. I am extremely grateful to be able to attend a GEAR UP high school, and have these resources available.”

In order to earn the Montana GEAR UP Pathways Scholarship students must be Pell Grant eligible and complete the Montana University System College Prep Curriculum while maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA. Additionally, students must complete a comprehensive project and have been awarded the $1,500 Achievement Grant during their junior year of high school.

This year’s award winners join a select group of 385 students who have been awarded the Pathways Scholarship over the past 6 years representing a scholarship commitment of over $9 million from Montana GEAR UP.
