Students may now register for traffic education class
POLSON — Applications for Polson High School’s Traffic Education Class, Summer Session 2016, can be picked up at the PHS office beginning Monday, May 16 during school hours. Please read, complete and return completed forms to the high school office by Friday, May 20.
The Summer Traffic Education session will start May 26 and end approximately July 1. Students must be 14-and-a-half years old or older by May 26, 2016. Class size is limited to 30.
Indian Ed committee welcomes public to meeting
POLSON — The monthly JO’M Polson Indian Education Committee Meeting will be held on Monday, May 16 at Cherry Valley School in Polson. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the school library. A light dinner and childcare will be provided. This meeting is open to the public.
Agenda items include finalizing the graduation presentation for JO’M graduates, a funding request from Polson Schools for next year’s cultural activities, and summer activities, among other items.

Free Minecraft workshop offered to teachers of grades 3-8

BOZEMAN — Montana teachers of third through eighth grade students are invited to apply for a free professional development workshop on Minecraft and STEM learning (STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
The workshop will be held at Montana State University in Bozeman from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 20, through Wednesday, June 22. Teachers also may stay for an optional afternoon session from 1:15-2:45 p.m. in which they can observe the workshop instructors teaching Minecraft to youth in the Peaks and Potentials summer camp.
Teachers can earn Office of Public Instruction renewal units for participating.
The instructors are from Beyond the Chalk, an organization founded by two Montana educators who help other teachers bring technology into the classroom.
Only 10 teachers will be selected for the program, which is free. Lodging and travel are not included, however. The deadline to apply is June 1. Teachers will be notified of acceptance by June 3. Free healthscreenings in Pablo
PABLO — Women 4 Wellness will offer free health screenings for the eighth year in a row on Thursday, May 19 at the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center on the Salish Kootenai College campus. Participant pre-registration is encouraged through May 16 and can be done online at prevention.skc.edu
