EUREKA - The Mission Valley Mariners traveled to Eureka to start their season in the Rendezvous Days Tournament. In their first game, the Mariners were looking for a win against Cranbrook on Saturday, April 23.
A three-run second inning got the Mariners off to a solid start. Cranbrook tried to come back from the early deficit, but their efforts were not enough. The Mariners continued scoring runs and came out with the 13-2 win. Walter Woods and Tyson Petticrew combined for six runs and Anthony Jones added two.
Later in the day, the Mariners played against the Missoula Pioneers in hopes of another weekend win. Mariner’s Julian Jones batted in Jacob Harrod in the first inning, but the Pioneers answered back. Both teams held each other to zero runs in the second inning, however it was the third inning that put Missoula out of reach for the Mariners. The Pioneers scored two runs in the third and one more in the fourth inning to beat Mission Valley 4-1.
