News from Polson High School
KALISPELL —Student musicians earned high marks when Polson High School Band competed April 7-9 at the District No. 1 Music Festival in Kalispell.
Flathead and Glacier High Schools hosted the event where entire bands, ensembles and solo entries received ratings based on their performances. All ensembles and solos that received a superior rating are eligible to move on to the State Music Festival that will be held in Helena May 6-7.
Band director Rich Sawyer said the students worked very hard, including many nights and weekends, to prepare solo and ensemble music for the festival.
“The growth during this process is very self-directed and is quite impressive,” he said. “I was very proud of the student work and collaborative efforts in their preparation for the festival.”
