Soccer team scores two wins
STEVENSVILLE – The Polson FC U14 Girls soccer team traveled on Saturday to Stevensville to head-off their spring regular season. In the first game of the day, against Hamilton, Ellie Maddy and Kallie Finkbeiner led the team combining for four goals. Sophie Moderie was a key player in the “flow of the game,” according to Polson Coach Jess Kittle.
“We did a great job controlling the ball through the midfield and connecting some great combination passes,” Kittle said.
Aisha Clark and Josie Salois made a big impact defensively, which helped with the 6-2 win.
Looking for a second win, the team took on Stevensville later in the day. Maddy and Finkbeiner were again the top scorers for Polson, each having two goals. The game was tied 2-2 at halftime, but Polson came out legs-a-blazing and scored a goal in the first 17 seconds of the second half.
“That goal fired up the team,” Kittle said. “We played the second half mostly on our attacking end.”
The team went onto beat Stevensville 5-2.
