POLSON — A man who was involved in an altercation last October at a Ronan day care pleaded guilty to a lesser offense of burglary in Lake County District Court March 23.
Francis Joseph Jackson, 31, in a change of plea admitted that on Oct. 7, 2015, he entered Martha’s Mini Day Care in Ronan where his children were attending. Jackson had no right to be there because his parental rights had been suspended by the tribes. Jackson was intoxicated and an altercation occurred, resulting in damage to the property. By admitting the above, he pleaded guilty to felony burglary, a lesser included offense to aggravated burglary, to which he pleaded not guilty on Oct.28, 2015.
After entering his guilty plea, the court found Jackson guilty and he was released on his own recognizance with a SCRAM bracelet until sentencing, which is set for May 4.
Jackson’s plea agreement calls for a sentence of 15 years in the Department of Corrections, with 10 suspended, under the conditions that he pay restitution to the victim in an amount that is yet to be determined. On May 4, the Court can choose to go along with the recommended sentence, or the Court can choose to reject it and impose up to the maximum penalty of 20 years in Montana State Prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
