BROWNING – The fourth-ranked Polson Pirates are firing on all cylinders as they head into postseason play after downing Browning 40-0 at Browning on Friday. The win brought the Pirates to a perfect 8-0 on the season.
Backup quarterback Will Davey stepped up to complete a pair of passes for 13 yards and a touchdown pass to Justin Hoel.
Chris Cote led the Polson offense with 11 carries for 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. Paul McClurg finished with 2 carries for 62 yards, including a touchdown.
On defense, Brock Bleazard picked up a fumble recovery and returned it for a touchdown. The Pirate defense held Browning to 49 rushing yards and 72 passing yards. Davey picked off an interception.
The Pirates will get a much-needed bye week to rest up and spend time preparing for playoffs before beginning their state run.
“It will be a good time for kids to get healthy and go back to the basics,” head coach Scott Wilson said.
Polson will host a playoff game Saturday, Nov 5. Time and opponent will be announced next weekend.
