Charlo volleyball head coach Sheryl Kain knew her team would be thoroughly tested last week as they wrapped up their regular season. Charlo’s first test came with No. 1 ranked Superior on the road, where the Lady Vikings fell 3-1.
On Saturday, Charlo faced their second road test at Arlee, where the Scarlets swept Charlo 3-0: 25-15, 25-12, 25-20. With the win, the Scarlets tied the Lady Vikings for second place in District 10-C.
Against Arlee, Rachel Hoyt led Charlo with seven kills and 11 digs for Charlo. Deondra Brown continues to play well, adding seven kills. Dawn Blevins had five blocks, and seven assists.
Because both teams finished with a 7-3 record in league play, the No. 2 seeds for districts will be determined Monday by a tiebreak.
On Tuesday, Charlo faced No. 1 ranked Superior on the road, where Superior was able to pick apart Charlo’s defense to pick up a 25-20, 19-25, 25-11, 25-8 win.
Dawn Blevins led Charlo with 20 digs, 12 assists and three blocks. Kinley Pope added eight kills, while Derika Stipe added three aces.
For Superior, Nicole Stroot had 16 kills, while Kaitlynn Koke and Thandy Cox each added 16 digs and an ace. Superior improved to 10-0 in conference, and 15-0 overall.
With the two losses, the Lady Vikings fell to 12-4 overall.
