Scarlets sweep Charlo, Ronan 3-0

ARLEE — The Scarlets tied with the Charlo Lady Vikings for second place and the potential second seed at district Saturday. The Scarlets swept Charlo in three games, 25-15, 25-12, 25-20.
They finished the regular season 11-5 and 7-3 in conference play. Charlo also finished the season 7-3. A tiebreak on Monday will determine who will enter districts as the No. 2 seed.
Mahalia Hendren led the Scarlet charge with 13 kills, 11 blocks and 22 digs.
“It was awesome. The girls played very well together,” head coach Brian Big Sam said.
Big Sam said the team wanted to send the three seniors on the team out on a high note. Seniors on the team include Jenna Pablo and starters Cortney Dix and Becca Nelson.
“My two senior starters are just outstanding athletes,” Big Sam said. “Becca is a hustler and an amazing hitter. Cortney is an amazing setter.”
Big Sam said he feels positive going into district tournament play and feels if the team continues to plays like they have, they have a good chance of placing well.
“We are a team that could take districts,” Big Sam said.
On Thursday, Hendren had 13 kills and five blocks in the Scarlets’ win over the Maidens. Dix contributed 22 assists and four aces. Alaina Madsen had 12 digs and two aces and Ashleigh Lynch added five kills to help lead the Maidens.
