DIXON – The long month of January is about over – don’t you wish this was the spring thaw? It’s been a comparatively easy winter — I haven’t had to be plowed out once yet.
It was nice to see our “eldest elder,” Allene Cole appear at lunch last week. She has been living near Charlo with her daughter, Betty Chenette, for some time. She was one of the first to help get a senior center started in Dixon. She’s looking good, at 96!
The Dixon Senior Center is open for business and welcoming visitors, as well as members, with somewhere to go for good food and some fellowship. Meals are just $4 and take-outs are available. Join us for dinner at 5 p.m. on Mondays and lunch each Thursday at noon.
The latest menu includes some of my favorites –
— Thursday, Jan. 28: Indian tacos
— Monday, Feb. 1: roast with potatoes, veggies
— Thursday, Feb. 4: chicken noodle soup, salad
— Monday, Feb. 8: meatloaf, mashed potatoes
— Thursday, Feb. 11: burritos
— Monday, Feb. 15: turkey
— Thursday, Feb. 18: taco soup, cornbread
— Monday, Feb. 22: stir-fry
— Thursday, Feb. 25: frittata
— Monday, Feb. 29: chicken Alfredo
We have delicious desserts, homemade bread and fruits and or vegetables with each meal. Come enjoy.
