Ninepipes holds winter Book Chat
RONAN — Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana is sponsoring a “Book Chat” at the Ronan Public Library, 203 Main Street, starting on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m.
Donna Cheff and Michelle Fenger will lead a four-week discussion on the book, “A Cup of Tears.” This book is about Polson icon Marie Johnson and should not be confused with the book “Three Cups of Tea.” With incredible determination, Marie escapes her very difficult life in Siberia and she triumphs in Montana. Discussion about the rest of the book will follow on consecutive Wednesdays, Feb. 10, 17, and 24.

Food-safety training coming to Ronan
News from the Montana Food and Agriculture Development Center
RONAN — Upcoming trainings hosted by the Montana Food and Agriculture Development Center Network will help Montana food-based businesses and providers institute best practices, comply with existing safety ordinances, and prepare their business for the new updates mandated by the Food Safety Modernization Act. The trainings will cover a variety of food safety and food business topics and be held in locations around Montana.
In Ronan, an On Farm Food Safety Training will take place Feb. 18-19. Other trainings include Wholesale Success Feb. 8 in Great Falls and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point in Billings March 9.
The Montana Food and Agriculture Development Center Network helps Montanans innovate and grow businesses that produce and commercialize food, agricultural and renewable energy products and processes — creating wealth and jobs in communities and on farms and ranches. The centers located in Joliet, Havre, Butte, and Ronan operate as a statewide network serving community-based businesses throughout Montana.
The trainings are sponsored through a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Specialty Crop Block Grant.

Wear red February 5

Free CPR classes offered in February
POLSON — February is Heart Health Month and Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is celebrating with free CPR classes. An instructor from St. Joseph will conduct the classroom, video-based course to teach adult CPR and AED and how to relieve chocking in an adult. The classes are every Saturday in February from 9-11 a.m. and again from 1-3 p.m. in the Grandview lobby, west of Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. Call Cindy Hagen at 406-883-7488 to sign up.
Heart screenings offered
POLSON — Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is celebrating Heart Health Month during February with heart screenings. We are offering a cardiac health profile for $49, which includes a complete metabolic panel, blood count and thyroid stimulating hormone test. No charge for lipid profiles. Please do not eat or drink anything for 10 hours before the test. No appointments necessary. Please check in at the front desk. The center is also offering baseline EKGs for only $30. Please call 406-883-8453 to schedule your EKG appointment. These tests are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7-10 a.m. through February at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center.
Seminar to address domestic violence
POLSON — PEACE will be hosting a seminar. “No Fear In Love.” Feb. 6 discussing the myths, signs and effects of domestic violence as well as what the Bible has to say regarding the issue.
