Editor,

I believe that Sarah Palin is a sister in Jesus Christ. She is without a doubt a mother and wife who cares for her family and a citizen who believes that her country is morally, financially, and politically on a course to disaster. Is she perfect? No. Is she the best candidate for president in 2012? That is in the hands of our creator and remains to be seen. Is it fair that the tragedy in Arizona is laid at her feet? No.

If the victims in that tragedy were average citizens with average jobs and not a congresswoman and a judge, the whole affair would have been second page news. The gifted thinkers in our country would not have noticed. You know, the ones who tore the last president apart. The ones who want to lower the moral standards of our country. The elitist thinkers that deny God and think that the problems of the world can be solved with candy-coated words of human intellect. They are the first to theorize, the first to give advice, the first to endorse lower moral standards, the first to look for someone else to blame, and the last to get in line to pay for the costs of their beliefs. Also, they are the last to look at themselves as part of the problem that faces all mankind.

We are all to blame. We all possess the same genetic and spiritual defects. We all are capable of killing, and if we do not believe in a divine authority and I mean truly believe, not just pay lip service, then there is nothing that can or will control the evil impulses that can needlessly destroy the world around us. Maybe a question that should be asked is, who wrote scriptural law, and who writes human law? We all should take heed to a common biblical passage, "Before we point out the speck in our brother's eye, remove the plank from our own."

The tragedy in Arizona is just another event in the tragedy of human belief that we can control our destiny independent of divine authority. Peace is a gift. It is a reality that humans cannot and will not grant to each other. Finger point, legislate, regulate and talk without acknowledging the will of God and the gift he offers freely, then be assured, the tragedy in Arizona will be repeated over and over. If we pause and look deep in our hearts, we know this to be true.
