RONAN — Trinceton Brown of Charlo and Josiah Pettit of Ronan will be bestowed the rank of Eagle Scout on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. The Eagle Court of Honor will be held in the cultural hall at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4th Ave. SE, Ronan.
To become an Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts must earn 21 merit badges and complete a service project that benefits a school, religious institution, or community before their 18th birthday.
For his Eagle Scout project, Brown created a memorial flower bed at Charlo Elementary School to honor students who have passed away. A memorial plaque will be erected at the site in the future, according to Brown.
Pettit, a musician, performed with his sister, Rachael, in a June concert that raised more than 900 pounds of food for the Ronan Bread Basket food bank.
Parents of Trinceton are Bryan and Leah Brown of Charlo. Josiah’s parents are James and Shirley Pettit of Ronan.
“The two young men came up through the ranks together and their projects reflected highly on themselves, their troop, the Montana Council, and the Boy Scouts of America,” Scouter James Pettit said. “Less than 4 percent of young men who join the Boy Scouts ever attain this highly revered rank. Their efforts are a credit to themselves, their God and their community.”
