PABLO – After Dallas Paige Cox-Sias, 3, lost her life due to injuries from a car crash on U.S. Highway 93 Monday, Nov. 9, her parents decided to allow her to help four other children.
“They agreed to donate her eyes and heart valves,” said Jody Sias, the child’s grandfather, during a phone interview. “Two kids will get the gift of sight and the other two kids will get the gift of life because of her heart valves.”
Jeriko Sias, Dallas’s mother, was driving the car when it was hit. The impact broke nine of her bones and fractured her neck.
“Her tibia and fibula are shattered,” said Jody Sias, her father. “She has four more surgeries to go before she can walk again. She has a cast now.”
Dallas’s father, Anthony Cox, was in the passenger seat during the crash.
“He has ankle problems and a broken left arm with bruised ribs,” he said. “Neither one of them is going to be able to go back to work soon. People have asked what they can do to help.”
An account was set up at Eagle Bank in Polson along with the GoFundMe site. The Two Eagle River School in Pablo is hosting a pancake dinner and silent auction on Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. Jeriko graduated from Two Eagle a few years ago. The Muley Bluz Saddle Shop in Ronan is also collecting donations.
“Jeriko is a cowgirl,” he said. “After the accident, they had to cut her boot off. We took her boot to the saddle shop to get it fixed, and they said they would fix it for free, and they wanted to put her boot on the counter to collect donations.”
