I wish to thank all of you who supported my campaign with your votes, contributions and precious volunteer time. Though my loss in Flathead County overwhelmed my win in Lake County, I gained many friends, knowledge and experience. Working with you and meeting so many fine Montanans was very rewarding. I am humbled by your continued outpouring of support and well-wishes.
It’s a privilege to be part of Montana’s legislature, and I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign in my earnest efforts to return for another term. Folks tell me that I can be proud that the Mowbray campaign remained focused on issues and solutions.
Now I have returned my attention to constituent issues, and will continue to do my best for you in my remaining time as your senator. Here are a few of the local issues I’m working on:
• Aquatic invasive species prevention to protect all Flathead waters
• Facilitating a disabled veteran’s property tax exemption;
• Retaining foster parent caseworkers in Lake County, instead of Kalispell and Missoula;
• I identified a Montana grant for the Polson High School roof to reduce or avoid a levy;
• I’m working with state agencies to speed up payments to private providers of services like transportation for seniors and children's daycare;
• Exploring offsets of tax loss to Lake County in advance of the tribes’ purchase Kerr Dam.
As far as finding ways to reduce your property taxes – that I must leave to your next legislators.
Each day I pray for wisdom, clarity and courage; and now I add our next senator to my prayers for the same.
It is my honor to serve as your senator. As always, I welcome your questions and comments.
